“Don’t put that back in the larder! Throw it in the slops pile and then wash the bowl in the scullery!” – Forks Farthum, Head Chef at the Last Hearth Inn

Any good kitchen has an ample larder and needs a decent scullery. A heaping mound of rotting vegetables is always a good sign that the kitchen staff are vigilant in the freshness of their fare.
