“I only have the greatest respect for the goodly folk who dwell in my fine houses. I am on wonderful terms with all of them, and we all have a deep understanding of each others needs. I am their protector and their best friend. There isn’t a soul who dwells in my domain that I don’t care endlessly for and would do anything for. Why, some of the children who live here even affectionately call me ‘papa’. All I ask in turn for my benevolence is that my wishes are respected. I can be a bit touchy when this isn’t fulfilled, and my men might get a bit overzealous sometimes when seeing that order is kept on my property. But such is the price of order in these parts, and I do like things to be in order. ” – Olfalo Grick, slumlord

The population of the ‘Cull is relatively small, and while trade isn’t a big part of life in the vale, there is enough to keep most folks out of poverty. But Torbridge Cull is also a destination for the desperate, the hopeful and those seeking to hide. Many come to the cull as a last resort, and often find themselves suddenly without the means to get by, or to turn back. In steps Olfalo Grick, who promptly takes advantage of the situation and offers a roof over one’s head, protection, and even work. But the slumlord soon entraps his victims in webs of deceit and keeps them bound with fear. Many who would have otherwise redeemed themselves are stuck deep in the nefarious practices of the Cawg Gang and slip ever further into a mire of economic and moral darkness.
